Zenkleus (“Zenkleus”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of every individual who uses the Skoolbod platform. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal information through the Skoolbod mobile application (“App”) and associated web services.
Skoolbod is an EdTech platform designed for schools. The App serves students, parents, teachers, and school administrators.
This Privacy Policy meets the requirements of:

Where users are minors (under 18 years), Zenkleus requires parental or guardian consent to be provided by the school or institution responsible for onboarding the minor. Zenkleus does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without verified institutional consent.

Zenkleus does not collect the following through the Skoolbod App:
- Precise real-time GPS location tracking
- Microphone, camera, or media without explicit in-app user consent
- Browsing history or cross-app tracking data
- Third-party social media account credentials
- Biometric identifiers (fingerprints, facial recognition)
5. How We Use Your Data
Zenkleus uses collected data strictly for the purposes described below:
5.1 Platform Operations
- Creating and managing user accounts (students, parents, staff, administrators)
- Managing student admissions, enrolment records, and academic history
- Generating academic results, report cards, and performance analytics
- Processing and reconciling school fee payments
- Facilitating communication between schools, parents, and the LGA secretariat
5.2 Security & Compliance
- Verifying the identity of staff and administrators through KYC processes
- Detecting, preventing, and responding to security threats or unauthorized access
- Maintaining audit logs for regulatory and institutional accountability
- Complying with legal obligations under NDPR and NITDA guidelines
5.3 Service Improvement
- Monitoring App performance and diagnosing technical issues
- Analyzing usage patterns to improve platform features and user experience
- Providing technical support and resolving user complaints
5.4 Training & Capacity Building
- Supporting structured digital training programmes for LGA staff and school personnel
- Tracking training progress and assessment outcomes
6. Data Sharing & Third Parties
6.1 Who We Share Data With
Zenkleus does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
Authorized Institutional Users: School administrators and LGA education officers may access data within their defined role-based permissions on the platform.
Payment Processors: Financial transaction data is shared with certified payment service providers solely to process fee payments and generate receipts. All such providers are contractually bound to NDPR compliance.
Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Data is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure. Providers are selected for compliance with international data security standards.
Legal Authorities: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or a lawful request from national regulatory authorities including NITDA.
Professional Advisors: Lawyers, auditors, and compliance consultants under strict confidentiality obligations, where necessary.
6.2 No Third-Party Advertising
Zenkleus does not share personal data with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics companies for commercial marketing purposes. The Skoolbod App contains no third-party advertising SDKs.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law. Specific retention periods include:
- Student academic records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years after a student’s last academic session, in accordance with institutional recordkeeping standards.
- Financial transaction records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years in compliance with National financial reporting obligations.
- Staff and personnel records: Retained for the duration of the staff member’s engagement and for 3 years thereafter.
- Usage and device data: Retained for up to 24 months for security and performance monitoring purposes.
- Account data: Retained until account deletion is requested and confirmed, after which data is deleted within 30 days.
Upon expiry of the applicable retention period, data is securely deleted or anonymized.
8. Data Security
Zenkleus implements industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your data:
- Bank-level encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data transmitted between the App and our servers
- AES-256 encryption for sensitive data stored at rest
- Role-based access controls (RBAC) ensuring each user accesses only data they are authorized to see

- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments

While we take all reasonable measures to protect your data, no digital system is entirely immune to risk. In the event of a data breach affecting your personal data, Zenkleus will notify affected users and relevant authorities in accordance with NDPR requirements within the prescribed timeframe.
9. Children’s Privacy
Skoolbod is designed for use within educational institutions and, by its nature, processes personal data relating to minors (students under 18 years of age). Zenkleus takes the protection of children’s data with the highest level of seriousness.
Student data is only created on the platform by school administrators or authorized LGA personnel acting under formal institutional agreements.
- Students do not self-register; all student accounts are created by institutions that have obtained proper parental or guardian consent through their own admission processes.
- Student data is strictly limited to what is necessary for academic and administrative functions.
- Student data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside of the educational service.
- Access to student data within the platform is restricted by role — only the relevant school’s administrators, assigned teachers, and the student’s parent/guardian may access a given student’s profile.

10. Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and applicable standards, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right to Access: You may request a copy of the personal data Zenkleus holds about you.
Right to Rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to Erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
Right to Restriction: You may request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
Right to Data Portability: You may request your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Right to Object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interest or direct marketing (which we do not conduct).
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

11. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
The Skoolbod mobile application does not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-app tracking technologies.
The App uses the following limited first-party technologies:
- Session tokens to maintain your logged-in state securely
- Local device storage for offline functionality (Skoolbod is offline-first by design)
- Performance and crash reporting tools (non-identifiable, aggregated data only)
If you use the Skoolbod web portal through a browser, standard browser cookies may be used for authentication and session management. These are strictly necessary cookies and do not track you across other websites.
12. Mobile Apps — Privacy Nutrition Label Summary
In compliance with Apple’s App Privacy Details requirements, the following summarizes how Skoolbod handles your data as disclosed on the App Store product page:

None. Skoolbod does not track users across third-party apps or websites for advertising or data broker purposes.

All permissions are requested at the point of need and can be revoked at any time through your device settings.

Skoolbod is a platform primarily serving educational institutions. Personal data is stored on cloud infrastructure that may be located outside the country in which the institution operates “Where such transfers occur, Zenkleus ensures that:

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Zenkleus may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal obligations, or App features. When material changes are made:

- We will notify users through an in-App notification or push alert
- For significant changes affecting how we process children’s data, we will provide additional notice to school administrators
Continued use of the Skoolbod App after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
